Watch Out: SCAM Emails are Dangerous

In the Gisborne Herald:

“Infinity IT, Woodward Chrisp’s technology provider, said it believed client data was secure and was doing all it can to mitigate the damage.

The data on the attacked server was backed up and the IT company was confident the encrypted data would be retrieved over the next few days as the servers were rebuilt.

Woodward Chrisp, which has offices in Gisborne and Wairoa, switched to Infinity IT a few weeks before the attack in what turned out to be a stroke of good fortune.

Infinity IT advised the firm it did not have a sufficient backup system in place and had one set up before the cyber-attack.

“What we’ve learned is that having a backup is essential and it has been a big sigh of relief that we’ve got that,” Mr Simperingham said.”
